The board of directors of Raytheon Company has been named the 2008 Board of the Year by the National Association of Corporate Directors, New England chapter (NACDNE). The award recognizes the one board that has jointly provided the guidance necessary to steer a company through a period of extraordinary growth or other significant development.

An NACDNE announcement stated that Raytheon Company's board of directors "has set the tone at the top by driving a culture of integrity and high ethical standards" and represents a model for "exemplary corporate governance." The award was accepted by Raytheon Chairman and CEO Bill Swanson and fellow board members at the NACDNE annual Director of the Year dinner event on May 8, 2008, in Boston.

Founded in 1977, the NACD is a national nonprofit membership organization dedicated exclusively to serving the corporate governance needs of corporate boards and individual board members. The NACD’s mission is to achieve improved corporate performance through better board practice. Its 17,500 members and customers represent companies ranging from Fortune 100 public companies to small, over-the-counter, closely held, and private firms.
