RAYTHEON'S ONGOING RESPONSE

The 2005 hurricane season has proven to be a harsh one for the Gulf Coast of the United States. In response, Raytheon continues to coordinate relief and recovery efforts aimed at helping employees and their families get back on their feet and back to work as soon as possible.

Hurricane Wilma
A Category 3 storm (classified by the National Hurricane Center) made landfall on the west coast of Florida on Monday morning. A cross-business hurricane response team ensured that emergency safety and security measures were in place at all company facilities in the projected path of the storm prior to the storm coming ashore. We continue to closely monitor the storm’s path and its progress.

Hurricane Rita
Thankfully, Hurricane Rita did not cause as much damage as many had feared it would. Rita’s turn to the east spared the Houston, Texas, region — and our activities there — the brunt of the storm. The Raytheon team across the Gulf Coast had successfully prepared for Rita’s arrival, ensuring the safety and security of both employees and facilities in the area.

Incident Response Team
The incident response team that was mobilized to prepare for Hurricane Katrina shifted its focus to preparing other Raytheon facilities and employees for the coming storm. This team, representing businesses and functions from across the company, met on a daily basis as soon as Hurricane Rita was deemed a threat to ensure a coordinated and effective emergency preparedness plan was enacted.

Financial Contributions
Gifts given to the Raytheon Employee Disaster Relief Fund are now allocated to general hurricane relief efforts, as opposed to being strictly earmarked for Hurricane Katrina recovery efforts. Employees affected by the hurricanes of 2005 can apply for grants from this fund through their Human Resources manager.

Houston, Texas
Raytheon sites in the Houston area were closed prior to Hurricane Rita’s arrival, allowing approximately 170 Raytheon employees to return to their homes and families to begin emergency preparations for the storm. Sustaining minimal structural damage, Raytheon’s Houston facilities were up and running the day after the hurricane reached the area. Only one employee reported home damage or injury as a result of the storm, and all power and information technology systems remained functional.

Hurricane Katrina
Hurricane Katrina has had a devastating impact on the United States’ Gulf Coast region. Thousands of lives have been affected and businesses disrupted, including over 650 Raytheon employees who live in the path of the storm and the company’s Forest, Miss., facility. As soon as the hurricane hit the mainland, Raytheon funding, technology and people were mobilized to assist with relief and recovery efforts across the region.

Financial Contributions
Raytheon Company — and our caring and concerned employees — have donated to Hurricane Katrina relief efforts through the Raytheon Employee Disaster Relief Fund and by special gifts and donations to the American Red Cross.

First Responder Vehicles
Three of Raytheon’s First Responder vehicles, donated to the American Red Cross last year, are currently on the ground assisting with hurricane relief efforts. They are enabling a coordinated rescue effort among different agencies in areas that have seen communications virtually knocked out.

Global Broadcast Service Satellite Technology
Raytheon employees are on the ground in New Orleans providing valuable satellite uplink capability to U.S. task force efforts dedicated to Katrina disaster recovery. A company-led team has implemented global broadcast service satellite technology, which provides surveillance video and images of the disaster area to leaders of the recovery mission, including the U.S. Joint Task Force Katrina commander, U.S. Northern Command commander, the U.S. Army, Navy and Air Force and other civilian and public service agencies.

Forest, Miss., Facility
Raytheon’s Forest, Miss., facility — part of the Space and Airborne Systems business — sustained minimal structural damage during Hurricane Katrina. All 600 of the site’s employees are safe and accounted for. However, employees and their families are battling the loss of homes, lack of food and fuel, and emotional stress from the disaster. In response, Raytheon is offering a number of resources and programs to ensure their continued safety and well being. Thanks to a coordinated team effort and dedicated employees, the facility was up and running again by Sept. 6, 2005, only seven days after the hurricane hit.

RTSC in New Orleans
In the coming months, employees of Raytheon’s Technical Services Company will be deployed to New Orleans to help rebuild a city that was more than half under water.

Global Health Resources
Raytheon’s Global Health Resources team is helping those affected by the hurricane obtain critical health information, resources, and grief and anxiety counseling.
