Surface Launched Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missile (SLAMRAAM) is an important part of Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems’ integrated air and missile defense systems.

SLAMRAAM is a tailorable, state-of-the-art air and missile defense system that can defeat current and emerging cruise missile threats and a wide range of air breathing threats, capable of defending maneuvering land forces, high-value fixed assets and mass population centers.

SLAMRAAM is the U.S. Army’s domestic variant of the NASAMS system.  Currently in the final stages of its development, SLAMRAAM successfully destroyed an unmanned aerial vehicle target and intercepted a cruise missile target in two test firings March 10 and 11 at White Sands Missile Range, N.M.  The U.S. Army program office will complete the system development, and work to keep a total of five systems ready for rapid recall and use if cruise missile and unmanned aerial vehicle threats materialize.

When fielded, SLAMRAAM will be the most capable and cost effective system to combat the cruise missile threat.
