Raytheon’s air traffic management solutions on display at ATCA 2011 Conference
Raytheon Company showcases air traffic management (ATM) systems and solutions at the Air Traffic Control Association (ATCA) 56th Annual Conference and Exposition Oct. 2-5, 2011. The company’s ATM systems help control more than 60 percent of the world's air space.
During the show, Technical Services and Network Centric Systems will demonstrate Raytheon’ s leadership in offering technology that helps the Federal Aviation Administration prepare for next generation (NextGen) technology, training, and cybersecurity solutions.
NCS and TS systems and solutions featured at ATCA support both military and civil customers like the FAA. NCS systems include, Joint Precision Approach and Landing Systems (JPALS), the U.S. Air Force’s Deployable Radar Approach Control (D-RAPCON) system, and the Standard Terminal Automation Replacement Systems (STARS) / Terminal Area Modernization Replacement (TAMR).
Charles Keegan, leader of Raytheon’s Civil Aviation Solutions, will moderate the FAA Interactive Panel discussion on Monday, Oct. 3, and was recently re-elected as an ATCA board member.
“The FAA is a leader in a number of areas for aviation and has the largest ATC workforce on the planet by far,” said Keegan. Listen to Keegan talk about his role on ATCA and the unique relationship between NextGen, transformation and modernization. TS representatives from the FAA’s Air Traffic Control Optimum Training Solutions program will talk about transformation activities, and why training is a critical component of NextGen and modernization. John Sennott, ATCOTS program managers shares his key program focus areas and explains why Raytheon considers ATCOTS a national asset program.
Additionally, TS continues to explore mobile learning solutions in support of the ATCOTS program. Raytheon’s ATCA exhibit will show training modules running on iPads, which allow air traffic controllers to practice aircraft vectoring and separation exercises at their convenience, outside of traditional classroom training environments.
ATCA is an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to promoting, maintaining and enhancing the stature and well-being of the Air Traffic Control profession and the aviation community.
