The ATCBI-6 program will replace up to 152 aging civil Air Traffic Control Radar Beacon Systems (ATCRBS).
These are used by the FAA to obtain information from enroute aircraft that is critical to safe air travel, including identification, altitude, airspeed and direction.
ATCBI-6 provides many benefits to the FAA including greater target capacity, improved accuracy and better probability of detection with a reduction in false targets. Its high reliability reduces maintenance and support costs and its commonality with ASR-11 further reduces life cycle costs to the FAA.
Raytheon's ATCBI-6 has evolved through five generations of MSSR product improvements since 1980, to maintain a modern product that provides the best balance between product maturity and new technology.
