AN/ALQ-184(V)9 ECM Pod with Towed Decoy

The AN/ALQ-184(V)9 Electronic Countermeasures (ECM) Pod with Towed Decoy protects both aircraft and crew and reduces threat lethality.

The ALQ-184(V)9 combines the combat-proven ALQ-184 ECM Pod with the ALE-50 Towed Decoy System to establish a new benchmark for aircraft and crew survivability. The ALQ-184 selectively directs high power jamming against multiple emitters. The ALE-50 Towed Decoy System lures radar-guided missiles away from the host aircraft by providing a more attractive radar target. Technique coordination between the two systems is managed by an advanced correlation processor that determines whether the ALQ-184 or the ALE-50 is used to provide the most effective counter to a threat.

Dual redundant 1553B interfaces increase the ALQ-184(V)9's ability to communicate with its host aircraft and other onboard systems such as missile and radar warning systems. The system uses the proven ALM-233 support equipment and the pod operation support tester.
