Your Actionable Information Advantage

Imagine a scenario in which fighter pilots use their radars as a super communications tool to share crucial information and transmit it to other battlespace assets as time-critical situations arise.

Large volumes of data and imagery — such as a detailed SAR map of targets requiring immediate action — can be circulated at short or long range with a speed comparable to sending an e-mail. Even when time is extremely short, commanders are able to make effective decisions based on superior information.

The world leader in active electronically scanned array (AESA) radars, Raytheon has joined forces with L-3 Communications (L-3), a leading developer and integrator of high-performance communication systems to develop this groundbreaking AESA capability.

The integrated system combines Raytheon's powerful AESA technology with state-of-the-art high-speed data links and a unique, proven waveform from L-3. The result: Raytheon AESA radars can now serve as highly advanced communication nodes able to do such tasks as creating detailed maps and transmitting them with unprecedented speed — while continuing to perform their full range of traditional radar functions.

When will this dream capability be available? The technology and much of the infrastructure required to use it already exist. Based upon Raytheon's revolutionary AESA radar and advanced L-3Communications data transfer technology, the capability has been proven in flight tests and is currently in development.
