Electronics Laboratory
Raytheon UTD has a dedicated 400 square foot electronics lab with full ESD protections. Our Electronics Lab has advanced capabilities in the following areas:
• Data Acquisition
• Board Design
• Custom Sensor Development
• Telemetry
We maintain Agilent 34970A data acquisition units and Agilent BenchLink Data Logger software for simple data logging applications.
More advanced applications are fulfilled using National Instrument's LabVIEW graphical programming languages and Visual Basic to accomplish high-level GUI's and C, C++ or assembly for high-speed microprocessor, PIC and component-level DAQ design.
Using LabVIEW, data can be collected from multiple instruments, be processed, and give control outputs to multiple systems (i.e. closed-loop motion controllers, relays, power supplies, etc.).
Our hardware capabilities include both through-hole and surface mount board design, assembly and board repair utilizing stereo microscopy and SMT tools. Protel, the current industry standard, is used for schematic capture, mixed-signal simulations and PCB layout with advanced capabilities for both ceramic, pure flex and hybrid rigid-flex boards of 32 layer density.
Our Electrical Engineering staff has experience in remote field installations, DC through 1 GHz mixed-signal design, precision strain-gauging, PC based & discrete digital/DAQ design, custom sensor development, control & mechatronic design as well as hostile environment packaging and cable/fiber/RF telemetry communication experience.
Raytheon UTD's inventory includes a broad range of sensors and supplies including:
• Load cells
• Torque transducers
• Accelerometers
• Displacement transducers
• Strain gages and indicators
• Signal conditioners
• Digital multimeters
• Various other tools and instruments
• Large wire and component stores
Geographic Information Systems
We provide Geographic Information Systems (GIS), remote sensing, database design and implementation services. We have created innovative interfaces to link GIS, vulnerability, and facility condition applications that allow numerous COTS products to share files and data without requiring changes to client operating systems or hardware.
Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Services: We have extensive experience with the ESRI ArcGIS system. We design and install geographic information systems for state and local government applications, including conducting the requirements analysis, implementation plan, perform the data acquisition and verification, and create custom interfaces.
Our capabilities include:
• Site Characterization
• Digital Elevation Modeling
• Terrain Analysis
• Imagery Analysis
• 3D Spatial and Flythroughs
We can scan, process, mosaic, and orthorectify digital or film imagery, and combine remote sensing imagery with other geographic information in a GIS. We use aerial and satellite imagery and digital elevation models (DEMs) to help our customers to analyze land usage patterns, study environmental problems and improve operations.
Geotechnical and Rock Testing Laboratory
We have a full geotechnical and rock testing laboratory with the capability to conduct material property, strength, and characterization analysis.
