Space & Air Solutions is a capability area in Global Integrated Sensors that designs and enhances radar systems that provide situational awareness by detecting, identifying, classifying and tracking long-range activity in airspace and Earth orbital space. Programs include new and out-year growth opportunities, such as Space Fence and 3DELRR.
Space Fence
As the preeminent, trusted leader in large-aperture radars, Raytheon is partnering with the U.S. Air Force to establish the next generation of space surveillance capabilities with the Space Fence System. The Space Fence System will replace the Air Force’s Very High-Frequency Space Surveillance System, operational since 1961, with more accurate and timely position & characterization of orbiting objects and debris.
Relocatable Over-the-Horizon Radar (ROTHR)
The Relocatable Over-the-Horizon Radar (ROTHR) is a proven long range surveillance radar in service with the U.S. government, deployed to detect and track aircraft and ship targets at ranges to 2500 nautical miles.The ROTHR system has been operational with the U.S. government for over 15 years, supporting the counter drug mission in the Caribbean Sea and South America, and early warning detection for Navy vessels at sea.
