Missile Defense radars represent a major capability area in Global Integrated Sensors. Missile Defense designs, develops, upgrades, and provides whole life engineering and logistical support for radars dedicated to air and missile defense. Programs include AN/TPY-2, SBX, UEWR, JLENS and TSRP.

The AN/TPY-2, the world’s most advanced mobile radar, is a multi-function, X-band radar designed to search, acquire, track and discriminate threats from non-threats. One of Raytheon’s family of X-band radars, the AN/TPY-2 is a phased array radar that delivers high power output and exceptional beam/waveform agility.

RTN IDS - UEWR imageUpgraded Early Warning Radar (UEWR)
The UEWR provides early detection and precise tracking of incoming ballistic missiles, as well as quick, accurate determination of threat versus non-threat objects. UEWR is a key sensor for the Missile Defense Agency’s Ballistic Missile Defense System, supporting the intercept of threatening ballistic missiles above the atmosphere and well away from their intended targets while concurrently performing the early warning mission.

RTN IDS - SBX imageSea-based X-Band Radar (SBX)
The Sea-based X-band Radar can track targets to SM-3 engagement and perform the hit assessment afterward. Installed on a relocatable, semi-submersible platform for flexibility in choosing a site, the radar performs the critical functions of cuing, tracking and discriminating between potential targets.

RTN IDS - JLENS imageJoint Land Attack Cruise Missile Defense Elevated Netted Sensor System (JLENS)
JLENS is an elevated, persistent, over-the-horizon sensor system designed as a primary defense against cruise missile attacks.  It gives combatant commanders a cost-effective, long-endurance, detection and tracking capability, which enables sufficient warning to engage air defense systems and defeat the intruding attack cruise missile threat.
